10 Things You Learn Re-Watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine

6. Santiago Is More Valuable Than Anyone Realises

Bold, daring, controversial.

None of these are words that anyone would use to describe Amy Santiago.

She is, however, much more valuable than she seems at first glance.

Early on, it's easy to dismiss Santiago as a little annoying due to her role as the teacher's pet. On re-watching the show, her place within the Nine-Nine becomes clearer and clearer: she carries them forward.

At a first glance she's just the mildly obnoxious co-worker that we've all met: hyper-organised, grating at times and a bit of a suck-up. But with a bit of time for reflection, her importance becomes evident.

She rescues the squad time and time again simply by being who she is; her attention to detail and her ability to organise everything around her is an undervalued skill amongst her colleagues.

Once you think about it, you start to feel a little bad for her, not just for the ridicule she endures from her co-workers, but for our initial reactions as well.
