10 Things You Learn Re-Watching Watchmen Episode 1

4. Interrogation Eyes

Watchmen HBO Hooded Justice?

You may not have waited to get all the way through your first viewing to go back and check this part. Looking Glass carries out his interrogation of a suspected member of the Seventh Cavalry while exposing him to a series of subtle and overt political images.

When the interrogation is over, L.G. tells the police chief the subject's eyes dilated at all the right times, letting him know the truth. The subject's eyes are brown, and we are only given a few closeups on the eyes to see for ourselves, but you'll have trouble looking anywhere else while re-watching this sequence.

It's not as if the average viewer is adequately trained in the psychological implications of pupil dilation to be able to judge whether Looking Glass is telling the truth, but if he were to be untrustworthy, this scene would prove pretty important in that revelation.
