10 Things You Need To Know About The Supergirl TV Show

The Woman Of Steel vs...Ally McBeal?

There's a heck of an over-stuffed schedule of superhero movies on the horizon (even more so when you consider all the productions that have nothing to do with Marvel or DC), but that's just the tip of the iceberg as far as live-action comic book adaptations go. The real interesting stuff isn't happening every six months on the big screen, but every week on the small screen; as TV dramas have reached new heights, so too have superhero shows become something that's actually worth watching. Mostly. Marvel's Agents Of SHIELD wasn't much cop, but Daredevil was brilliant, and Agent Carter picked up a lot of fans on ABC. Where the MCU dominates in film, though, their Distinguished Competition has picked up the ball on the TV front: Constantine recently got cancelled despite a decent first season, Gotham is gearing up for a second go-around on Fox, and Arrow was so popular it begat The Flash which has its own spin-off on the cards. The next big addition to DC's TV portfolio is, surprisingly, Supergirl. A pilot was announced a few months ago and today CBS confirmed that the show would be part of their Fall premiere line-up, debuting in November and airing on Mondays at 8 PM, meaning it'll be in direct conflict with Gotham. They also released a bunch of new information about the show, along with a couple of new pics. From the looks of it, it's shaping up to be a very different show from its rival on Fox. In fact, it looks like a very different superhero show than any airing right now. From the low-down on the unusual set-up, to all the important casting news (including the appearance of the second most famous troubled TV attorney) and - of course - the costume, here are ten things you need to know about Supergirl.
