10 Things You Need To Know About True Detective Season 2

1. The Plot

With all the information regarding season two swirling about this year, obviously the most intriguing of it is in regards to the plot itself. The first season saw Cohle and Hart chase the deranged Errol Childress and the mystery of the Yellow King. So just what kind of case will the characters of season two be involved with? And what will the interplay between the characters be like? Naturally, given the early days of production, we know next to nothing at this point. However, information has leaked revealing some details of the plot. Apparently it will involve the death of a corrupt city manager amidst a controversial transportation deal. Frank Semyon, played by Vince Vaughn, is a former criminal turned businessman involved with the deal and thus helps spearhead the investigation. This brings in the three lead detectives Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell), Ani Bezzerides, and Paul Woodrugh, who must work together to solve this mysterious death. All three come from different cities and branches of government, and all three are damaged in their own way, so there is no doubt there will be much dramatic interplay between them Don't expect the next season to be any less strange than the first either. Pizzolatto hinted earlier in the year that this season would involve "the secret occult history of the United States transportation system." So despite being an entirely new story and characters, you can still see some similar plot elements (weird religious cults) thematically connecting both seasons together. It's all coming together to form what sounds like quite an intriguing premise. So that's all we know so far about the upcoming second season of True Detective. Can it live up to the first? It's much too early to tell, but judging from various interviews from Pizzolatto and others, they are well aware of the heightened expectations and are responding by going in a different direction. Here's hoping that they knock it out of the park a second time. Excited for the next season of True Detective? Let us know in the comments below!
