1. Quarantine

In years to come, 2020 will be remembered for many things, but few so much as lockdown and quarantine. The entire world was brought to a standstill thanks to a rapidly spreading virus, that forced people to remain in their homes to lower the risk of catching and passing on the illness.

Back in 2011, the episode 'Cold Warriors' saw humanity fighting a similar fight, but with the common cold from 1000 years in the past. Since the illness itself died out 500 years prior, humanity had lost any and all resistance it once had, so when Fry brought the dormant virus 1000 years into the future, it became deadly.

Fry and the rest of Planet Express were forced to remain quarantined within their building for the protection of the rest of New New York, though even the Professor couldn't say how it would affect those who had never encountered it.

After reaching his limit of taking care of his friends, Bender escaped quarantine and immediately spread the virus, with New New Yorkers being advised to wash their hands thoroughly. Though 2020 couldn't resort to lifting the entire city of Manhattan into the sun, this is a spooky example of life imitating art.
