10 Times The Walking Dead Traumatised Fans
6. Noah's Death
Season 5 Episode 14: "Spend."
Noah's death is perhaps one of the most brutal and violent deaths in the show's history, as it involves a tremendous amount of blood and special effects. We first meet young Noah at the beginning of season 5 in the hospital during Beth's final story-arc. After Beth's death, Noah joins the group and arrives with them in Alexandria.
Noah and Glenn are assigned as supply runners and venture out alongside the infamous Nicholas. Unsurprisingly, the mission goes bad and the three men are forced to run from an overwhelming amount of walkers. Noah's disgusting death occurs as the three men are trapped on opposite sides of a revolving door surrounded by walkers.
Our friend Nicholas selfishly forces his way out the door which lets walkers grab Noah. Noah is then pinned up against the glass door and literally ripped apart in one of the most horrifying scenes, and Glenn, like the viewer, is forced to bear witness.
Why is this traumatising? Because it's an unnecessarily grisly watch. Yes, The Walking Dead is known for its gore and horror, but sometimes not seeing the death is more effective.
If all we saw was Glenn's horrified reaction then that would arguably be just as powerful. Showing Noah's nauseating final moments was a needless flex of the show's muscles, and one that makes you squirm away from the screen in trauma.
