10 Times You Wished Leslie Knope Was Your BFF

We should all feel like poetic, noble land-mermaids.

Let's be honest here- your friends are, at best, OK. They're pretty funny sometimes and they mostly remember your birthday and sure, one of them helped you moved once but you had to buy them a beer afterwards so it felt like less of a favour than it could have done. You probably wouldn't realise that they were subpar if you hadn't had the bar raised by the TV character who represented the pinnacle of friendship: Leslie Knope, the lead on the NBC sitcom Parks & Recreation. Parks was a show filled with heart and bursting with warmth and Leslie was at the centre of that. She loved her friends and colleagues with an occasionally-terrifying-but-mostly-delightful ferocity and managed to give them her all while also pursuing romantic relationships, weird hobbies and a challenging career. She is an impossible to live up to character, so rather than asking our friends to do so, let's look back at some of her most wonderful moments and just imagine she was in our life.

Brydie is an Australian writer and performer living in London and she complains exactly the same amount about the weather as every other Australian living in London. Yes, that is her natural lip colour, no, she will not be taking any further questions at this time.
