3. Wernstrom's Super Villain Ties

There have been a smattering of villains the Planet Express crew have come up against since Fry stepped out of his freezer tube. From Mom to a planet of bouncing balls, there have been enough antagonists throughout the series to almost make you forget this used to be a show about a delivery company.

One of the most on-the-nose villains was the Zookeeper, a spoof of a comic book villain from when Fry, Leela, and Bender became superheroes. The New Justice League fought the Zookeeper and his pack of highly trained animals, and had to compromise on their morals to defeat him.

From an elephant that never forgets to kill, and a badger with nothing to lose, to a rogue crab called Citizen Snips, the Zookeeper never wanted for help from the animal kingdom. One accomplice that was overlooked however, was the piranha he had ‘persuaded’ to walk on dry land.

The carnivourous fish walked on land with a pair of robotic legs, exactly the same as the ones Doctor Wernstrom presented at the Academic Symposium several years earlier. Could it be that Wernstrom was working in league with the Zookeeper? And if so, who’s to say what other villains the Professor’s rival supplied with technology to terrorise the city?
