10 TV Characters That Appeared Outside Their Own Shows

3. David Brent From The UK Office On The American Office

Ricky Gervais will go down in the history books for creating one of the best sitcoms of all time... TWICE. The UK Office may have only ran for 14 episodes yet it is considered a classic, and the American Office ran for 9 seasons and is still relevant to this day (it was named the most streamed show of 2020).

The two shows were masters of cringe inducing humour and the champions of this comedy were the two branch managers: David Brent and Michael Scott. While both men were different in a lot of ways they did share a lot of similarities, including their complete inaptitude at reading a room. So it makes sense then for the two men to get along swimmingly.

This thought was on every fans mind while the American office was airing and when each episode aired they would wonder... is this the day the two men meet? Well we all got our wish during the season 7 episode The Seminar when Michael runs into Mr Brent outside a lift and promptly mimics his distinctive English accent. The proceeding conversation is awkward and stilted and if it had happened between any other two people you would have to call it an unsuccessful meeting. But considering it's between two men who are only able to converse awkwardly meant they got along swimmingly. There was even a hug between the men when a "That's what she said" joke is made!

Although you have to wonder how Michael would have felt if he found out Brent had interviewed for his old job.

Lily thought it was about time she wrote Top Ten lists for people other than herself. She also owes her dog a lot of money so she thought it was about time to pay her dues. There is no tv show she likes that she hasn't seen at least twice.
