6. Buzz Hickey - Community
The fifth season of Community marked the return of both creator Dan Harmon and all the wit and fun that seemed to have gone with him. One of the highlights of the series was the addition of Jonathan Banks' Professor Hickey.
Buzz Hickey was Greendale's grouchy and apathetic Criminology teacher. He played an important role in the series, helping Jeff transition from a student to his new role as a teacher and was soon added to the main cast as part of the Save Greendale Committee. He was also responsible for some of that season's best jokes, including reconciling with his son through Dungeons and Dragons and building a tank out of desks when a game of "The Floor is Lava" got out of hand.
Unfortunately, when Community was renewed for a sixth season, Banks was too busy with Better Call Saul to return. When the series aired, no explicit explanation was ever given for why Buzz wasn't there anymore.
What Happened To Him: Some fans did manage to find a reference to Buzz hidden in Season 6 though. In the episode Basic Email Security, one of the emails has the subject "Buzz Hickey Memorial Services". Clearly, Buzz retired to open a funeral parlour, and there's absolutely no other way that subject can be interpreted...
