10 TV Characters You Forgot Were Recast
2. Robin Hood - Once Upon A Time
In shows like Once Upon A Time, where so many characters come and go, not a lot of thought is put into casting small, one-episode-arc actors. So, when season 2 came along, a Belle-centric episode saw the introduction of Robin Hood as a prisoner of the merciless Rumpelstiltskin.
The character was only supposed to join the show for that episode and so casting directors didn't see the need to check actor's schedules when casting the show and instead went for a sort-of-well-known-actor instead. They cast Merlin's Tom Ellis as the dashing hero and he played well with the likes of Robert Carlyle.
But when season 3 rolled around they introduced Hood once again. And most viewers, that weren't avid fans of Tom Ellis, nothing really seemed amiss. You see, back when Once was airing, you couldn't stream the show and because it had been a while since Hood's first and very minor appearance, fans understandably didn't notice the switch.
And look, the casting of incredibly handsome Sean Maguire was pretty distracting, not to mention his incredible chemistry with actress Lana Parrilla had fans sold on his casting of Robin Hood, so you can be excused.
