10 TV Couples That Created Unrealistic Expectations About Relationships

4. Cory/Topanga - Boy Meets World

This couple is so perfect that once they eventually got around to making the spin-off show Girl Meets World, which follows the adventures of their tween daughter, Topanga actually makes the tongue in cheek comment, "I wonder how many lives the idea of Cory and Topanga has ruined?" Even they know that they are setting up an unattainable example. Cory and Topanga are soulmates, and have been close to each other since they were tiny little toddlers. Even in the sixth grade, when most boys are just starting to come to terms with the fact that girls may not actually have cooties, Cory's pretty sure that Topanga is the girl that he's going to marry someday. And their relationship may have its ups and downs, but for the most part it's almost sickeningly sweet, and gives impressionable young minds the idea that they will meet their one true love while they're in elementary school. So apparently if your soulmate hasn't shown up by the time you need to start shaving, you're doomed to the life of a maiden aunt or a confirmed bachelor.
