10 TV Deaths We All Saw Coming (That Still Left Us Stunned)

9. The Tenth Doctor - Doctor Who

Not a character dying per se but audiences have come to experience the regeneration of the Doctor as a change that feels as momentous as a death, especially when it came to the longevity of fan-favourite David Tennant. And we all knew that he was going to have to "die" because a new Doctor Who actor is now international celebrity gossip, like with James Bond and Batman right now.

Still, the Tenth Doctor's exit felt tragic. Yet it was fitting, ending with Tennant giving his best performance as the iconic Doctor. The writing of that final monologue was almost self-referential, Tennant hinting how popular he was, how important that role was to his career and questioning why it had to end at all. I'm sure fans of the show would have been asking the same thing.
