10 TV Endings Actors Didn't Know Were Going To Happen

7. Luke Skywalker's Cameo - The Mandalorian (Season 2)

The Mandalorian's second season ended with a very special surprise indeed - the appearance of a young Luke Skywalker, achieved by pasting a digital model of a young Mark Hamill over the top of a stand-in performer.

Naturally Disney was desperate to keep this shocking cameo under wraps to ensure that fans didn't have it spoiled ahead of time, and went to some majorly drastic lengths to do so.

As it turns out, none of the cast members were told who the character was supposed to be - not even those who appeared in the scene itself.

Katee Sackhoff, who played Bo-Katan Kryze and appeared in the scene, revealed that creator Jon Favreau kept Luke's identity hush-hush, enough that the cast didn't know who it was until the episode aired. Sackhoff said in an interview with The Sith Council podcast:

"I didn't know until I saw it with you guys... They didn't tell us [who it was]. There was an actor there with [CGI] dots on his face... I thought to myself, 'They would've let us know that.'... It was a complete red herring, so we didn't know. I knew it was a Jedi, I knew it was an X-Wing, so you start to put things together, but you don't know... I was crying when Luke Skywalker showed up. Literally crying."

Favreau's cloak-and-dagger approach certainly worked, as the episode made it to air without any leaks revealing Luke's presence.
