9. Bobby - Supernatural

Bobby Singer, over the course of several seasons, became a father figure to the Winchester boys, the closest thing Sam and Dean had to family. Which in hindsight was a really stupid thing to do, because the Winchesters aren't exactly going to be winning any medals in the Surviving Friends and Family event at the Olympics. Any idiot (or idjit, as the case may be) knows that being anything more than a passing acquaintance to those boys is a first class ticket to a horrible death. Credit where credit's due, though €“ Bobby lasted a lot longer than any of their other loved ones. You can't outrun death forever, though. In Season 7, Bobby is shot by the Leviathans and falls into a coma. You think he's about to have a relatively peaceful death €“ he's even able to exchange parting words with Sam and Dean. But he refuses to go with the reaper, opting instead to stay and protect the Winchesters. Which has the unfortunate side effect of making him a vengeful spirit. Oops. So Sam and Dean put him to rest, and you think that's going to be the end of it. You dumb fans. Did you forget this is Supernatural? Of course, his soul gets dragged down to hell by a rogue reaper and tortured for an untold amount of time, until he's finally rescued by an angel and sent up to heaven. Whew. I hope he was allowed to take a nap once he got to heaven, because frankly that just sounds exhausting.
