In 1995, the following fan-theory was put forward on a Doctor Who chatroom; what if the word for "doctor" on Earth originated from the universe's most famous Time Lord?

If you think about it, this idea doesn't seem too far-fetched. The Doctor has interfered in human history for centuries. It's possible that people in the distance past met The Doctor and saw him as a wise man who used special tools to heal the sick and so, associated the word "Doctor" with a person who helps those in need.

This theory was confirmed 16 years later in the episode, A Good Man Goes To War, when Professor River Song explains how the word "Doctor" means "healer" and "wise man" throughout the universe (including Earth) because the word originated from The Doctor himself.

But one question still remains unanswered. Who was the person who posted this fantastic theory in the first place? And the answer is... Steven Moffat; the head writer of the modern Doctor Who! This means that Moffat devised a fan-theory for the character and then made it a reality when he took over the show.
