10 TV Moments We Waited Years To See (That Didn't Live Up To Expectations)

9. Clark Becomes Superman - Smallville

Superman origin series Smallville was governed by a rule established by its creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar - "no tights, no flights." This meant that the show vowed never to have Clark Kent (Tom Welling) take flight or appear in Superman's iconic costume.

The flying rule became increasingly relaxed over the series' run, though Smallville held steadfast to not giving fans a full-tilt Superman until its very final episode.

Sadly, this amounted to little more than a brief sequence in which the Man of Steel saves Air Force One amid a horrible blur of CGI, and a final shot where Clark is seen ripping open his shirt and revealing his Superman suit underneath.

It certainly would've been appropriately crowd-pleasing for the show to violate its no tights rule in a major way in the series finale, but instead fans were granted just a few fleeting seconds of Supes in his full superheroic glory.
