10 TV Questions That STILL Have You Confused

3. What Happened To The Ring Entities? - The Expanse

The Office US
Amazon Studios

The Expanse centres around a political conflict between citizens of Earth, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt, which intensifies when an alien particle called the proto-molecule is discovered. The proto-molecule later evolves into a wormhole Gate, allowing certain people who enter to contact the Ring Entities, the extra-terrestrials who wiped out the Gate's creator.

It's no surprise that much of The Expanse's biggest mysteries go unexplained, due to the fittingly expansive story and the murky lore. Having said that, a bit more exposition would've been greatly appreciated over what happened to the Ring Entities.

Though the Gate Builders are never seen, their origins are explored a little. The Ring Entities, on the other hand, become more nebulous as the story progresses.

Since the Entities are from a higher plane of existence and have no physical form, it's harder to grasp what they are or what they want. Is their end goal peace or conquest? Are they helping humanity or leading them to their doom?

Though it's hinted in the final episodes that the Ring Entities will "wake" in the near future, their big reveal is left, well, unrevealed.
