While the fact that Hayden Christensen had been convinced to finally set foot back into the formidable boots of Darth Vader was enough to leave just about every Star Wars fanatic fist-pumping alone, the eventual revelation of the original voice of the Dark Lord of the Sith returning to the mix nearly caused an entire Internet meltdown.
Yet, not everything was as it seemed when it came to the live-action return of James Earl Jones' iteration of Vader in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Upon closer inspection, the credits for Episode III of the show, while definitely crediting Jones' voice in the role, seemed to suggest that the "Voice Conversion Services" provided by Respeecher, also confirmed in said credits, likely aided his audible comeback.
For those unaware, Respeecher specialise in creating new or adapting pre-existing dialogue for a voice; as seen in their brilliant work in The Book of Boba Fett when forging Luke Skywalker's younger sound.
And, if they did have a hand in Jones' vocal return, perhaps Respeecher were also involved in the process of merging Christensen and Jones' vocal qualities together for the Episode VI moment that sees Vader's helmet dramatically smashed open, too.
Whatever way you slice it, though, Jones' unmistakable sound, be it new or recycled, certainly added some much-needed weight to this long-awaited re-emergence.
