10 TV Scenes You'll Never See

1. San Junipero's Kindergarten - Black Mirror

Curb Your Enthusiasm Larry
Netflix

San Junipero is unquestionably one of the very best Black Mirror episodes, taking place in the titular beach town which is actually a simulated reality that allows the consciousness of the dead to keep living on in the guise of their younger selves.

It's a fantastically moving and uncharacteristically happy episode for Black Mirror, though Charlie Brooker's original script contained some darker and more provocative ideas which ended up being cut.

The most intriguing involves a scene where Kelly (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) visits a kindergarten in San Junipero containing children, implying that the children had died in real life and been uploaded to the simulation.

Brooker told Refinery29, however, that he felt it was a step too far for the story he was trying to tell:

"In many ways it was a beautiful image, but it was so heart rending [that] it destabilised everything else."

Such a scene would've certainly cast a darker pall over the episode and possibly caused its tone to veer wildly off-course, so it's understandable that it was cleaved away during re-drafting.
