10 TV Show Endings That Get Worse The More You Think About Them
3. Dexter - Remember The Monsters?
Dexter may have been given a sequel miniseries to tie up its loose ends, but New Blood did very little to fix the mistakes of the mainline show's last episode, which remains one of the most infuriating finales ever filmed.
Remember the Monsters follows embattled killer-of-killers Dexter Morgan as he attempts to save his son, take down serial murderer Oliver Saxon, and confront the possibility that his secret life may be revealed for all to see.
The promise is there for a decent send-off, but it's never realised.
Saxon's villainy comes to a quick end, Debra dies, Dexter's son is given a new life, and Dexter himself decides that instead of seeking atonement for all the pain he's caused, he should become a lumberjack in hiding. Because why not.
The fact that everything Dexter wouldn't let his secrets known is tough to stomach, especially since he realises how much damage he's inflicted on his colleagues and family.
The show should have ended with Dexter getting his comeuppance, but in a dreadful attempt to defy expectations it irredeemably betrayed its remaining fans by having its true villain escape without any repercussions.
