10 TV Shows Dominated By The Last Character You'd Expect
3. Ed Westwick As Chuck Bass In Gossip Girl
We confess, Gossip Girl is a guilty pleasure. Watching Chuck's original appearances on the show, it's very very obvious he was meant to be a douchebag and slightly rapey who's friends with Nate, but is also determined to make everyone else really depressed. We're not sure what his original purpose was, but once they toned down his rape-loving nature and his blackmailing talents, he really starts to become kind-of likeable. Making him date Blair is an inspired choice and turns the Upper East Side's main villain into a slightly softer and much more sympathetic, if not likeable, character. Ed Westwick is brilliant with both sides of the character, effortlessly switching between the two personas when he needs to. Chuck's popularity is mainly down to the smoldering good looks of Westwick, which meant that fans of the show took a shine to him, meaning the character obviously needed to be more sympathetic. Considering it was meant to be about Serena, it pretty much became the Chuck and Blair show by the end, and we're glad.
