10 TV Shows That Cleverly Foreshadow What Happens

8. Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Willow's Pre-Coming Out Party

Buffy the Vampire Slayer wasn't a series that was all about hiding foreshadowing in its episodes, but there was one event that absolutely foretold one of the characters remarkably well, but viewers probably dismissed it when it first happened.

In the fourth season, Willow came out as gay, which made it possible for her to begin a relationship with Tara. That's all well and good... who could have seen that coming? Pretty much anyone who watched the show up to that point, but only if they took everything they saw as prophetic.

In the episode "Doppelgängland" from season three, Willow's doppelgänger appeared in the form of a vampire. This was the result of a wonky spell gone awry, and it was up to Buffy and Angel to capture the vampire Willow.

When this finally happened, the real Willow looks upon her accidental creation and says, "That's me as a vampire? I'm so evil and skanky. And I think I'm kinda gay!" Was Willow pre-coming out before she was really going to come out of the closet, or was she just making an off-hand comment? Viewers could have taken it either way, but when she finally did come out, it seems as if foreshadowing was the episode's original intent.
