10 TV Shows That Failed Spectacularly In Their Final Season

1. Teachers

Ted Lasso Season 3
Channel 4

Teachers was one of the UK's water cooler shows at the turn of the century - a deftly written dramedy centered around a group of secondary school teachers going about their lives both at work and home.

What made Teachers such brilliantly compulsive viewing was the superb dynamic between the central cast, especially protagonist Simon (Andrew Lincoln) and fellow teachers Brian (Adrian Bower), and Kurt (Navin Chowdhry).

Andrew Lincoln ended up leaving the show in its second series, at which point Brian and Kurt became the focus for the third, though they too made their own exit once series three was in the can.

And so, in a bizarrely mean-spirited attempt to clean the table in the most needlessly bleak manner possible, the fourth and final series opened with the revelation that Brian, Kurt, and fellow teacher Matt (James Lance) had been killed in a car accident.

As if that wasn't bad enough, the two remaining characters from the ensemble then pissed on their graves, the series took place at a new school, and the storylines got steadily more ridiculous in an attempt to compensate for the absent cast members.

Teachers' legacy as a gemstone of early-aughts British TV can't ever be undone, but that dreadful fourth series certainly put it to the test.
