10 TV Shows That Got Science Completely Wrong

9. Cherry Bomb Toilet - The Simpsons

Now, your writer is not so sad and miserable a human being as to declare The Simpsons of all shows scientifically inaccurate as some kind of imagined "gotcha". But when a gag seems just believable enough that even the Mythbusters feel the need to see if it would actually work, that's another matter.

In The Simpsons episode "Crepes Of Wrath", there's a scene in which Bart explodes every toilet in his school by dropping a cherry bomb into the pipes via a single toilet. This was then put to the test in an episode of Mythbusters, where it was found that this is, sadly, not possible.

Oh a cherry bomb dropped into a toilet will lay waste to the toilet, to be sure. But any damage beyond that is simply not possible for a bomb that small. It sure does make for a funny as hell scene, though, so one should be willing to let it slide.
