In an era of mass production such as this one, it's an admirable quality to know when less is more - and that appears to be a quality that both Watchmen's creator Damon Lindelof and HBO know something about.

Watchmen arrived on the cable service at the end of last year to critical acclaim, as Lindelof's series adapted Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' iconic graphic novel in a unique way in order to tell a complex story about systematic racism. It remixed the original story and, in the process, crafted an incredibly thought-provoking drama led by a stunning performance from Regina King - and it ultimately left fans in need of a follow-up.

However, HBO left the decision to continue the show in Lindelof's hands, and the creator has now confirmed that he's told the story he wanted to tell. And with that, he's accomplished everything he set out to do and left people wanting more. It's just unfortunate for them that they probably won't get it.
