Another JJ Abrams-produced mystery box of a show, what can be said about Lost that hasn’t already been said at this point? Running from 2004 to 2010, Lost has an infamous legacy as a show heavily wrapped in its created mythology, with mysteries heaped upon mysteries each week until its eventual (controversial) climax that left viewers with more questions than answers.

There was a lot to unpack in this show of plane crash survivors stranded on a desert island, from polar bears in the jungle to giant plumes of smoke taking monstrous form to philosophical questions on whether or not the islanders should continue pushing a button in a disused hatch for half a season. Lost is one of those shows that frayed at the edges when it came to its mysteries - it developed such a reputation for leaving viewers on the edge of their seats as they desperately tried to decipher what was going on, that eventually the finale rolled around and it became impossible to deliver answers on all the threads that were left to be resolved.

While this split the fanbase almost exactly in half between frustration and enjoyment, the journey the show takes you on is genuinely thrilling as you clamour for what the show is trying to say at its heart and there are some brilliant unexpected turns on the way that leave you wondering where the show is headed next. The season 3 finale where the show introduces the flash forwards concept to further complicate your understanding of the chronology of all scenes being presented for the rest of the show’s run is still a jaw-dropper to this day.
