10 TV Shows That Shot Themselves In The Foot

3. Turning It Into A Main Show Clone - Fear The Walking Dead

When Fear The Walking Dead debuted on-screens, it was quickly dismissed by those who didn't take to its domestic set-up prior to the apocalypse's beginnings. But that didn't stop it from quietly persevering in the background as its parent show continued to garner the ratings and the praise. And when that parent show began to decline, it struck - exploding onto screens with a third season that has gone down in history as one of the best in the entire Walking Dead universe.

Finally Fear The Walking Dead had solidified itself as a worthy companion to its predecessor, while also gifting fans with an alternative to its repetitive storylines. And instead of capitalizing on that momentum and taking it forward, the creative team absolutely destroyed it as Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple came on-board and thought it'd be a good idea to make it more like its now-flailing parent show.

Time jumps moved Fear further away from its own identity as Gimple attempted to 'reboot' it and, to top it all off, Walking Dead personality vacuum Morgan was shoehorned into the spin-off as a main character while Fear's two most interesting were quickly disposed of.

A show originally intended as a look at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse through familial eyes was quickly turned into a half-baked Walking Dead wannabe just so both shows could be temporarily intertwined for little more than a cheap ratings grab (which failed). And now, two seasons later, the show is completely unwatchable.
