10 TV Shows That Should Never Have Made It Past The Pilot

9. The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfifer (1998), 9 episodes

Desmond Pfifer You know what the world really needs? Historical sitcoms. But unless your name is Rowan Atkinson, Tony Robinson, Hugh Laurie or Stephen Fry, you should never, ever attempt to do them. Especially if you're an American. Welcome to this abortion of a TV series. Controversial from the start due to perceived racial insensitivity and the belief that people were laughing about slavery, the shows woes continued by being aired on UPN, something that assured about six people would watch it. I'm really not sure why anyone thought this was a good idea for a TV series, especially since the series finale would, almost by definition, have to be something of a downer. Then again, I'm sure they would have had "wacky" high jinks featuring Lincoln and Booth in a chase scene with Yakity Sax playing under it.
