10 TV Shows Where The Villain Became A Hero

1. Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Spike

When Spike and Drusilla rolled into Sunnydale in School Hard, they were the ultimate vampire power couple: doing what they like, killing who they want, and have a bloody good time along the way.

Spike was an evil vampire, albeit one with a sense of humour, and his run on the show was supposed to be brief: the intention had been for him to die in What's My Line, Part 2. However, the character's popularity kept him around, and James Marsters' chemistry with the rest of the cast changed his trajectory completely.

He was at first forced into being good, with the Initiative placing a chip in his head that prevented him for hurting people, but his uneasy alliance with the Scooby Gang led into genuine affection, even love, for Buffy. His arc is soured somewhat by his attempted rape of Buffy, but looked at over the course of his six seasons on the show, you see him go from a vampire who wants nothing more than wreaking havoc and killing for sport, to someone with a soul who sacrifices himself to save the entire world.
