10 TV Sitcom Stars Who Couldn't Break The Movies
3. Zach Braff
The divisive actor made his name on medical comedy Scrubs, but quickly proved to the world that he was more than just a baby faced chuckle merchant. Unwilling to wait around for the right part, he wrote and directed Garden State, a 2004 indie in which he would star alongside the ever popular Natalie Portman.
For a brief while, Garden State seemed to put him in good stead, but the critical appraisal of that movie has gone drastically downhill over time. In the harsh light of day it’s nothing but limp wish fulfilment, a film with decent moments that’s ultimately an excuse for a jobbing actor to kiss a beautiful co-star.
Braff rode the momentum into a leading role in the animated Chicken Little, but from there, he was on the steady decline. He went back to the auteur well with 2014’s Wish I Was Here, a crowdfunded project that made no money and was badly reviewed.
He has a few projects in the docket, but based on recent form, we maybe shouldn’t be expecting too much.
