The original Flintstones series is one of the most successful animated shows of all time, right up there with the likes of The Simpsons.

It's one of those "household name" properties that everybody knows - which is why the news of an upcoming spinoff series is bound to excite fans of all ages.

Part spinoff, part sequel, and part reboot, the new show - titled Bedrock - will be set two decades after the original series, following the Flintstone family as the Stone Age gives way to the Bronze Age. Fan-favourite Elizabeth Banks is signed on to voice a now twenty-something Pebbles, and with Banks also producing the project, it seems as though Pebbles will be the central character in the ensemble.

Interestingly, Bedrock is also being described as an "adult animated comedy". Given that The Flintstones is usually suitable for children and families, quite how "adult" this series will get remains to be seen - though it's definitely an interesting prospect!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
