10 Most Unjust Cancellations In TV History

1. Star Trek

star_trek_csg_014 Surprised by this? How can Star Trek - one of the most influential, most popular, and most spun-off television shows of all time - be featured on a list of shows that were unfairly dismissed? Well, because Star Trek was canceled after only three seasons. In fact, excluding the short-lived animated series the original Star Trek is the shortest running series of them all. So how could such a beloved series be given such ill treatment? Star Trek had actually performed rather poorly in the ratings races during its first season. Most shows would have been canceled right away but Star Trek managed to acquire a young demographic that saved it from being axed. Ratings continued to decline during the second season most notably due to a time slot change in which many younger viewers would be unavailable to watch. The show was renewed once more for a third season and once more was saved by its demographic. This time, however, the audience was deemed to be of "quality" mainly consisting of educated males. The third season was the last the series would see as questionable decisions on the network's part caused the few watching to turn away as the show was once more placed in an undesirable time slot. Despite the many protests of its hardcore fans, Star Trek was unjustly canceled. As years went by, however, many noticed just how amazing the show actually was and the cult following - and subsequent spin-0ffs - began. Are there any television shows you were sorry to see go?
