3. Spartacus

Spartacus The first original series to be produced by premium broadcaster Starz, Spartacus is based on the Thracian gladiator of the same name as he escapes execution and is subsequently sold into slavery. Filled to the brim with explicit violence and sexuality coupled with a good story and incredible acting Spartacus could have easily become anyone's guilty pleasure. Unfortunately, however, the series was canceled after three seasons. Being good enough to be compared to Game of Thrones one must wonder why such a decision was ever made. To be entirely honest Spartacus wasn't truly canceled but was instead finished and decided upon that it would not return for a fourth season. Each season is presented as a separate miniseries which come together to form an entire series. Still, the show was certainly excellent enough to continue beyond three seasons and had both the ratings and critical acclaim to back it up. It truly is a disappointment that something as carnal - and that's meant in the best way possible - as Spartacus has reached its end. Spartacus has spun-off into many other media including comic books, video games, and novels. It would be nice to see the series continue as a comic book similar to what Joss Whedon has done with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Speaking of Mr. Whedon...
