‘The Body’ is considered by fans and critics to be one of the best episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Focusing on the immediate aftermath of Joyce’s death, the story is wrought with loss and sorrow.

Midway through the episode, the characters gather in Willow and Tara’s room at UC Sunnydale. After a lengthy dialogue exchange, Xander lets out his frustration by punching his fist through the wall.

Filming Xander’s punch led to a fair amount of plaster debris, and unfortunately for Alyson Hannigan, this caused her to have an allergic reaction. Whilst the situation wasn’t life-threatening, Hannigan did experience some swelling on the right side of her face, and she was forced to go to the hospital for some pills.

Luckily, it was the right side of her face that swelled up, and writer-director Joss Whedon only needed to film the left side for the remainder of the scene. Needless to say, Hannigan must have been pretty relieved when filming came to an end.
