10 US Adaptations Of UK TV Shows That Sucked

Rarely does a show manage to be as relatable as The Inbetweeners. Everyone knew a lad like each of these four misfits and thanks to the amazing writing team, the show was an instant hit.

Despite having just three seasons, Inbetweeners was a cultural sensation and even spawned two movies. It was years before anyone was allowed to wait for a bus without being called a "bus !*$%" and even to this day you hear "aww fwend" echoing around the pub.

Unfortunately, MTV managed to get wind of the show's success and decided it was perfect for adaptation, especially on a music channel... If you're already aware of the American remake, I can't sympathise enough with you. If you're blissfully unaware, stay that way for your own sake.

They really should have learnt a lesson from ABC's failed attempt to adapt the show, but unfortunately for everyone, they pushed ahead anyway. Critics panned it and fans of the British season were outraged by the terrible effort. In their defense, they brought in Brad Copeland (Arrested Development/My Name Is Earl) to write for the show and Taika Waititi to direct almost half of season one. Sadly, that wasn't enough to make it work.
