10 Walking Dead Fates Worse Than Death

7. Having Alpha As A Parent - Omega

The Walking Dead Sasha The First Day of the Rest of Your Life
AMC

Due to the pain and torment caused by having Alpha as her mother, poor Lydia has been shown wanting to end her life at several points in her run on The Walking Dead.

Played by Cassady McClincy, it's the Omega episode of Season 9 that fully showcased the abusive childhood that Lydia had to live through.

As the audience, we're shown flashbacks of how things played out for Lydia once the world went to the dogs, with it detailed how her mother killed Lydia's father and then made life hell for the kid - to the point that Samantha Morton's aggressive, cold character insisted that her daughter call her Alpha rather than momma.

Throughout the early days of the zombie apocalypse, we get to see how young Lydia is berated by Alpha and forever made to toughen up in the hopes that Lydia will one day take over from her mother as the leader of the group that would eventually become known as the Whisperers.

By the time Lydia has finally left her ma's bullsh*t behind, the impact of this awful upbringing sees her twice noticeably try to end her life - once by attempting to feed herself to a walker, once by pleading with Carol to shoot her.
