In their first visit to the Hilltop colony compound Rick and a few delegates get in the middle of a scrape between some of the local boys and it predictably gets ugly. After almost getting his throat cut he knifes his assailant in the neck and clambers to his feet while the poor guy bleeds out. So far, this is all standard stuff and were all managing to keep hold of our nerve quite easily. The peaceful residents of Hilltop regard a completely blood soaked Rick in horror. He looks around at the terrified gawkers and casually says what? It is the honesty with which Rick delivers this line that sets your teeth on edge and really makes you question your values. With a mouth and torso covered in blood this man is not only comfortable but has a casual air about him. His reasons for acting the way he did are valid and he appeared to take no pleasure in it but the thought that someone as good as Rick Grimes, thats to say someone better than you or I, could become so carefree about taking a life is deeply unnerving.
