10 Ways Game Of Thrones Might Actually End

1. The Real Game Of Thrones Only Has Two Players

Summary: The real Game of Thrones is the one between Varys and Illyrio, who are actually playing a giant game of cyvasse, the series' equivalent of chess. Reasoning: At varying points the series, both Varys and Illyrio appear to have backed different people in their ascent to the Iron Throne. One of the most imaginative theories to explain this is that the two friends are actually just competing with each other in a big, manipulative game, where the board is Westeros and the pieces are real people. The two have been conspiring since the early days of book/season one, with apparently different goals. However, they also appear to remain good friends. This, combined with the big inconsistencies in their so-called master plans, would be explained by the fact that the whole thing is just a battle of wits between two expert manipulators. Likelihood: There's very little evidence to support this theory directly, but it fits in well with the themes of the series. The idea that the so-called Game of Thrones between players such as Cersei Lannister and Littlefinger is just a petty part of an even greater game is fascinating, and it'd make for an exquisite final reveal. Do you have any grand theories of how the series will pan out? Are the theories here just a load of rubbish? Join the discussion below!
