5. Bob Odenkirk (Saul) - Mr. Show With Bob And David
A cult classic sketch show for HBO, Mr. Show with Bob and David is an extraordinarily funny and impressively original cable series that unfortunately went too soon. Along with fellow comedian David Cross, Mr. Show spotlights their impressive comedic abilities, as well as a whole slew of other alternative comedians, such as Tom Kenny (who voices Spongebob Squarepants), Jack Black, Brian Posehn, Sarah Silverman, Mary Lynn Rajskub (probably known more famously as Chloe O'Brien from 24) and brother Bill Odenkirk. Together these seriously talented comedians created numerous memorable characters and moments, such as Ronnie Dobbs, Terry Twillstein or R&B duo Three Times One Minus One (damn). They did this in an new and original way, with sketches often intertwining and coming back in a way you wouldn't expect. For example at the beginning of a season 3 episode humorously dubbed as the "special lost episode" even while it was being taped Bob and David introduce themselves by making a seemingly nonsensical joke about a banana. This finally makes sense as during the end of the show as the tape is thrown into space to be discovered by Planet of the Apes-style chimps, who begin to watch Mr. Show and are immediately sent into a frenzy by the banana. This truly brilliant series is highly recommendable for any Saul Goodman fan, and similar to Breaking Bad has a short and catchy theme song. Come on, who doesn't want to see Saul in a green body suit playing a giant Iguana called Sulu? Anyone?
