So whatever happened to Walter Lloyd? The purportedly 10-year-old son of Harold Perrineau's absent father Michael Dawson, he began as an integral part of the main ensemble the sole kid, before Claire's baby was born, with his own angst and baggage that could be further elucidated with those pesky flashbacks. Then he went ahead and got kidnapped by The Others. Which was only part of the story, because once Michael had managed to track his kidnapped son down on the other side of the island, The Other wound up releasing him voluntarily. He was more than they could handle. What did that mean? It never got explained, but Walt and his dad left the show. That was because actor Malcolm David Kelley was growing up too quickly, but initially the plan was to reveal that Walt was a powerful psychic. Yup. Not only that, but he could apparently communicate telepathically with animals, and that was going to the explanation for the polar bear showing up on the island. Lost eventually got a little more wacky and supernatural, but having that concept introduced too early on would've just tipped it into ridiculousness.
