Stewie the genius is still around, from time to time, but Stewie's matricidal urges and world domination plots had gone by the wayside long before Lois Kills Stewie rolled around. Which sucks. Stewie was set to be a new Bart Simpson, with merch, taglines, and actually funny antics. "The broccoli must die", "victory is mine!" - Stewie was fantastic, and there was lots of room to explore the character. However, Family Guy seemed to self-sabotage Stewie. Maybe they didn't want him to be stuck as a one-note character. Maybe they wanted to avoid too many comparisons to Bart (we've already suggested that maybe its time for the comparisons to end). The thing is, the character could have stayed true to his beginnings and showed character growth. Instead, he became another one-note character as prime-time television's longest running gay joke.
