10 Ways The Simpsons Changed The World
3. The Simpsons Produced Some Of The Highest-Paid Voice Actors In The World
There's a fun game to be had amongst Simpsons die-hards which is spotting the voice actors in live-action work. Seeing Yeardley Smith cameo in 1996's Jingle All the Way or Dan Castellaneta show up in a random episode of Stargate SG-1 is always fun and slightly odd as we're largely used to hearing their voices and little more.
Whilst Hank Azaria has a few major motion pictures under his belt and Harry Shearer was an SNL castmate for a few years, largely the six major cast members of The Simpsons are known for this one animated sitcom. All the more impressive then is that this one show has made them all literal millionaires.
It's a sure thing that The Simpsons cast were all the highest-paid voice actors in the world during its peak, setting a new precedent for the value of iconic voices. In 1998 it was reported that pay disputes resolved to see each of them receive $125k per episode which rose steadily over the years to an incredible height of around $400k in 2008.
Whilst that figure has been cut since, as the show simply could not have continued with these expenditures, the group are still amongst the highest paid voice actors in the world.
In terms of net worth, it's estimated that only Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and Seth McFarlane, are estimated to be worth more, thanks in large part due to writing and production credits on top of voice work.
