10 Worst Brooklyn Nine-Nine Episodes

9. The Tagger (Season 1 Episode 2)

Brooklyn Nine Nine Jake And Amy He Said She Said
Fox

In the second ever episode of Brooklyn 99 Captain Holt decides to babysit Peralta in his pursuit of an unknown graffiti artist who is tagging police cars with drawings of penises (or is it peni? like cacti?). In the B storyline, Gina introduced the rest of the gang to her psychic friend who gives a haunting vision to Charles.

What sucks: This episode doesn't land for a number of reasons but since it was only the second episode ever made I'm going to go easy on it. Saying that, the psychic narrative is like Jake's locker - utter trash. Sure it showed the viewers that Charles is gullible and easily scared but the way he got over his fears at the end was extremely lazily written begging the question if that whole arc was really necessary.

What didn't suck: Looking back on this episode it's fun to see the genesis of the Peralta/Holt banter that will prove to be so successful in the seasons to come.

Holt: Here are two pictures. One is your locker and the other is a garbage dump in the Philippines. Can you tell which is which?

Jake: That one.

Holt: They are both your locker.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
