The Hellmouth was literally a portal to hell that existed underneath Sunnydale High's Library, and in the world of Buffy, its opening was always a threat. Keeping the Hellmouth closed was a common undertaking on the show, and you were given the impression that, should it ever be opened, all hell would, quite literally, break loose. Imagine the disappointment, then, when it turned out that the first thing to really come out of the Hellmouth looked like the underfed offspring of Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors. Seriously, this is the most hellish thing the show could come up with? Really the scariest thing about this is that they wrecked the iconic library set, at least briefly.
