10 Worst Episodes Of Otherwise Excellent Sci-Fi TV Shows
5. Battlestar Galactica - “Black Market”
The rebooted Battlestar Galactica series that premiered in 2003/2004 was widely praised for its dynamic take on the human/Cylon war. The show was filled with heart-racing action scenes and impressive visual effects that still look decent more than a decade after the series concluded.
There were 76 episodes in the series, and while most of them consisted of great scripts and impressive characters, "Black Market" from season two is easily the worst of them all. The episode is centered around Apollo and his interaction with the black market growing throughout the fleet.
He winds up getting involved in a murder investigation, which brings him into contact with Phelan, the man who runs the whole operation. Apollo is captured and threatened, but he is let go, and he doesn't give up on bringing down the black market after he learns it is trafficking in antibiotics and children.
Ultimately, the acting was on par with the rest of the series, but the corny dialogue and weak script ensured "Black Market's" place as the weakest episode in an otherwise outstanding series. Overall, the episode was dull, the action scenes were few and far between, and the events had little impact on the events of the show.
