South Park is a TV show that is full of debauchery and awfulness. What makes this even funnier is the fact that the children who take up the lead roles are so incredibly young. Whilst most of the main cast are perfectly decent people who slip up at times, the character of Eric Cartman is an absolute presence of evil.

Despite being a child, he is utterly terrifying, and that makes him one of the funniest characters on TV. He is a massive part of South Park's identity as a show. It has a reputation for being mean-spirited and provocative, and that can be almost entirely tied back to Cartman.

He has done some awful things in the incredibly long run of the series. The best thing about almost each of these moments is the fact that they are the result of Cartman's childish and stubborn nature. Every single one is a dramatic and utterly selfish occurrence in the show that only exists as a means for him to get what he wants. This is part of what makes the character so funny and scary.

This article will feature heavy spoilers for the episodes discussed.

10. Bullying a Little Person

Dr Nelson was an innocent person who wanted to prove to children that you shouldn't let adversity get in your way, that you are unique and deserve to be treated with respect, that words are like bullets and with the right armour they will bounce right off you. That was going well until he met Eric Cartman.

In the hilarious episode With Apologies to Jessie Jackson, Randy blurts out a racial slur on a game show and tensions escalate at the school, So, Dr Nelson is brought in to teach sensitivity training. Before he can even get the point across Cartman is convulsing with laughter at the sight of him and doesn't ever let up. The rivalry between the two only gets tougher and rougher until it ends in a fist-fight.

This character was so well used as it shows the power that Cartman has over people's patience. Even the most stout of heart cannot bear to tolerate his prejudice, and it is hilarious to watch.

This is one of his worst moments in the show, as he belittles and essentially makes someone challenge their genuine beliefs to a high degree.
