10 Worst Things Homer Simpson Has Done

3. Cause Maude & Frank Grimes’ Death

Homer Simpson 1
20th Century Fox

A twofer here, as even though they happen in different seasons, both have darkly similar results.

Maude’s death comes second, but is more excusable so let’s examine that first. She’s killed by a barrage of t-shirts originally fired at Homer by cheerleaders, being knocked over the top of the bleachers when Homer ducks. You’d be hard pushed the hold him totally responsible for just bending over to pick up a bobby pin, but there’s more.

For one, it’s Homer’s unsightly jiggling that causes Maude to get up in the first place. He also later admits to Ned that he parked in the ambulance bay, preventing medical treatment from reaching Maude in time.

For Frank Grimes though, Homer plays an even bigger part. Whether Grimes commits suicide by grabbing the high voltage cables or has such a breakdown he doesn’t realise the risks is debatable, but undoubtedly Homer causes this chain of events.

Not by winning the power plant contest, which is the catalyst, but by being so utterly irritating he drives Grimes over the edge. He chews Grimes’ pencils, eats his special dietetic lunch, gets him a telling off after Grimes stops him drinking acid and his just generally a moron at work.
