10 Worst Things Lisa Simpson Has Ever Done
6. Moneyballing Bart’s Baseball Team
In the long held tradition of The Simpsons parodying popular movies, the Season 22 episode MoneyBart takes inspiration from the Brad Pitt film, Moneyball. The plots don’t link up at all, really, instead it’s the general idea of using statistics and probability to assemble the best baseball team without the need for stars.
Lisa is the statistician, obviously, but on the baseball team, Bart is the star. Lisa’s coaching improves most of the players, but Bart’s a hotshot and refuses to listen to much of her advice. However, he’s still their best player, and together the Simpson kids carry the team to the championship game.
After a huge fallout though, despite Bart being their best hitter, Lisa drops him. He refuses to go to the game, though Marge takes him after much coaxing. As he arrives, their team is one run down in the last innings, and Lisa puts him in to pinch hit.
He again refuses to take her advice, stealing bases despite the statistical improbability.
Like in Lisa The Vegetarian, she realises the error of her ways she cheers for Bart, but when she’s so tetchy about people stealing her thing, it’s not on for her to take away Bart’s.
