1. Brass Eye - Paedogedden
Channel 4Had Brass Eye been made now, would any channel be brave enough to air it? Probably not. The show's final episode, TV Special Paedogeddon, was intended as a ruthless satire of the media's hypocrisy surrounding, and sensationalist treatment of, paedophilia; however, critics of the show didn't quite see Chris Morris' most controversial moment that way. 'Unspeakably sick' were the words the Daily Mail used to describe the show the day after it aired, quoting then-Minister for Child Protection Beverley Hughes - on the very same day, pictures of Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, then 11 and 13 respectively, in bikinis, were published in the paper. The Daily Star expressed their own horror and outrage at the show - right next to a feature commenting on the size of a then 15-year-old Charlotte Church's breasts. Proving what a smart bunch they are, the editors clearly weren't aware that they were not so much falling, as divebombing, into the show's trap. Not that Morris would ever rise to the backlash; he has even stated that he feels the show 'didn't go far enough.' Despite the strong negative reactions, the show attracted considerable praise elsewhere in the press, as well as from impressed viewers. It also sparked many a discussion in the press about the importance of satire, and the damage that can be caused by censorship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcU7FaEEzNU Which WTF TV moments should have made this list?
